Commercial Roof Inspector

Description

• Conduct full roof takeoffs. This includes taking pictures, identifying safety hazards and possible mobilization areas, roof core cuts, accurate measurements, and an inventory of rooftop equipment.
• Works closely with the permit expeditors, project managers, design team and consultants to monitor and expedite the development process.
• Maintains relationships between the organization and outside consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
• Receives, organizes, and maintains all construction documents.
• Communicate effectively with customers, building tenants, field techs, estimators, and management team.
• Responsible for maintaining and updating the project management/development tracking tool.
• Assists Project Managers in the preparation, review and administration of contractual proposals, contracts and purchase orders relating to construction projects.
• Utilize database of completed projects and existing customers to market roof inspections and repair services.
• Set up and conduct site visits and field measurements of existing roof systems.
• Document results of inspections and prepare comprehensive reports and repair proposals.
• Must be responsible for clocking in and out/recording time accurately and consistently on all days worked.
• Examine commercial roofs for deficiencies that could cause leaks, unusual wear and tears, damage from windblown debris, organic growth, and problems that may have resulted from material or installation defects.
• Know and follow Nations Roof’s safety policy.
• Lift and climb up and down a ladder and climb several sets of stairs.

Requirements

• Intermediate computer skills required. (Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. English verbal and written fluency may be required.
• Read and understand blueprints, shop drawings, details and specifications.
• Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and establish a productive working relationship with co-workers.
• Prior experience in commercial roof inspections and/or oversite of field installer, preferred.
• Willing to be trained and use company software.
• May require English written and English fluency.
• Understand how to use CRM software (ex. Salesforce and ADP) and pull information for reporting.
• Valid Driver’s License, with no restrictions.
• Knowledge of construction on any of the following roof systems: EPDM, TPO, PVC, Modified Systems, Metal, Hot Melt Waterproofing, Liquid Membrane and Flashing or Built up.
• Ability to identify specific types of roofing materials and repair methods.
• Willingness to obtain an OSHA 10. Nations Roof will provide training for certification, if applicable.
• Ability to work 8- to 12-hour shifts, weekdays and weekends.
• Understanding of manufacturer warranties and how to locate requirements.
• Advanced knowledge of safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
• Basic knowledge of proper installation of new roofs and roofing materials on commercial, industrial, and multifamily buildings.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferred.
• Ability to read and analyze basic blueprints, shop drawings, details and specifications for roofing projects.
• Commercial roofing experience or an equivalent market, manufacturing or distribution experience servicing the commercial roofing marketplace.
• Basic knowledge of proper installation vapor barriers and/or layers of insulation on the roof decks of flat roofs and sealing the seams of the roof systems.
• Working knowledge and understanding of most commercial roofing systems, including EPDM, TPO, PVC, SBS, BUR, liquid-applied, asphalt shingles, and metal roof systems, highly preferred.
