The Radiation Protection Technician evaluates radiological conditions at the nuclear plant, implements safety measures for workers and the public, and ensures compliance with established rules and practices.
- Conduct dose‑rate, contamination, and airborne radioactivity surveys.
- Provide job coverage to minimize personnel exposure.
- Brief and guide plant personnel to prevent unplanned radioactive exposure.
- Measure and record radiation levels, maintain and issue respiratory protection equipment, and wear respirators as required.

- Hold a High School Diploma or GED and pass the EEI TECH pre‑employment test.
- Ability to work varied shifts and obtain unescorted nuclear access.
- Demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills; meet ANSI 18.1‑1971 or ANSI 3.1 requirements.
- Possess either an Associate’s degree in Radiation Protection/Health Physics, 2 years relevant experience, 6 years Navy nuclear experience with ELT qualifications, or prior commercial nuclear plant radiation protection experience and a passing NUF exam.
