Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor - Data Center Construction

Description

• Develop and maintain cost plans and estimates throughout design and delivery phases.
• Produce monthly cost reports, executive summaries and funding data for stakeholders.
• Coordinate cost information from design teams, contractors and vendors for validation.
• Compile built cost records for benchmarking and continuous improvement.
• Lead procurement strategy, pricing reviews, scope validation and commercial negotiations.
• Manage final accounts and ensure timely agreement.
• Own change control: review, estimate, negotiate and reconcile change orders and post‑contract variances.
• Support cost risk analysis, scenario planning, contingency management and commitment tracking.
• Implement cost control systems, including Earned Value Management where applicable.
• Integrate cost with schedule and scope, working closely with project controls teams.
• Drive engineering priorities based on cost impact; lead value engineering and cost‑optimization initiatives.
• Monitor market trends and provide insights on escalation, labour and material pricing.
• Act as primary client interface, delivering service excellence and executive updates.
• Ensure compliance with internal Business Management Systems and delivery methodologies.
• Mentor junior team members and promote a high‑performance culture.
• Track financial performance, including margin, fee and resource forecasts.
• Adhere to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or a related field.
• Possess 5–7+ years of cost management/project controls experience in mission‑critical environments such as data centres.
• Preferably have construction consultancy experience and knowledge of MEP systems for hyperscale data‑centre infrastructure.
• Demonstrate strong budgeting, financial reporting, cost‑control and Earned Value Management expertise.
• Show proven procurement and commercial contract management skills.
• RICS accreditation or progress toward certification is advantageous.
• Exhibit excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Display strong analytical, problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Be proficient with industry‑standard cost‑management tools and software.
