• Perform work according to OSHA, MSHA, and H&K safety policies.
• Follow and assure compliance with quality control plans.
• Sample and test aggregate and asphalt materials per standard practices.
• Maintain test records and ensure compliance with company and agency specifications.
• Keep the work area clean and organized.
• Calibrate and maintain test equipment to required standards.
• Communicate with plant operations, agency representatives, and quality control supervision.
• Collaborate with the sales team to address customer issues and generate reports on results and trends.
• Apply algebra‑level math for AASHTO and ASTM calculations.
• Use computers, spreadsheets, and word processors for documentation.

Requirements

The Materials Division of H&K Group, Inc. is seeking an Aggregate and Asphalt Quality Control technician who will collect and test samples of aggregate and asphalt to ensure quality standards and specifications are met. The ideal candidate is safety‑conscious, self‑motivated, and experienced in the field.

Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lb, working with materials up to 300 °F, and occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, and airborne particles. Work hours may vary by project and can include overtime, nights, and weekends.

• Demonstrate strong work ethic, organizational and time‑management skills.
• Work independently or within a team; possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Obtain NECEPT technician qualification within 18 months; meet PennDOT, PA Turnpike, FAA, and other authority standards.
• Use appropriate PPE and meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 50 lb.
• Preferred: High school diploma or GED; prior experience with aggregates and bituminous materials; NECEPT certification; knowledge of crushing and asphalt plants; experience in construction materials production.
