A PE license in New York is required. Obtaining additional state licensing will be required in the role.
Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering. A master’s degree is preferred.
5 years’ minimum engineering experience working with residential, commercial, and/or industrial properties in a design or forensic consulting role.
Knowledge of building codes, fundamental architectural and/or engineering principles, construction materials, assembly and installation, and industry practices is required.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and perform inspections in confined spaces or at elevated heights.
Ability to initiate, develop, and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships.
Must be able and willing to drive 2-3+ hours per day for fieldwork. 50% of the role includes travel and site inspections; the other 50% is dedicated to report writing and project management.
Must have the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, to clients and other parties involved, regarding the details of the project's engineering/architectural issues.
Must be able to inspect roof structures and crawlspaces.
