Support the internal legal department through other assigned projects, as needed.
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of construction-related agreements, including but not limited to construction contracts, subcontracts, service agreements, and NDAs.
Conduct legal research and stay current on industry trends and changes in laws.
Identify, analyze, and summarize contract issues and key points to ensure compliance with company policy, laws, and regulations.
Advise project teams on risk management, legal compliance, and strategies to mitigate potential disputes in construction projects. Generate alternate contractual language to modify terms and conditions to mitigate risk of company stakeholders.
Perform in-person and virtual training for our branch partners on such subjects as contractual risk, risk mitigation, and other relevant legal topics.
Effectively communicate with internal and external customers to negotiate favorable contract terms and conditions.
Maintain and update templates and best practices for construction contracts and legal documentation.

Familiarity with construction insurance, bonding, and surety issues
Local to the Kansas City Metro is preferred
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external parties

Presentation skills with the ability to translate legal complexities into basic guidance for diverse audiences
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Pre-Law, Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline, or comparable professional legal experience
Must have Juris Doctor (JD) degree with license in at least one jurisdiction, or have passed the bar exam through state-approved alternative means in lieu of JD
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality customer service through proactive communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building across diverse stakeholder groups
Must have experience working in or supporting at least one of the following industries: construction, engineering, or manufacturing
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
2-5 years of professional legal work experience is required
