The position involves assisting with laboratory testing, drafting boring logs and location diagrams, scheduling drill rigs, obtaining utility clearances, supporting the subsurface exploration program, performing boring and test pit layouts using conventional surveying and GPS, classifying soil samples, operating hand augers for subsurface information, and observing foundation or ground improvement installations.
Candidates should be actively pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related field, have a strong interest in how structures are supported, be able to provide their own transportation for job sites (mileage reimbursed), and be capable of repeatedly lifting 40–70 lb and occasionally 85 lb to waist height.
