  • Uphold security and compliance (HIPAA, FISMA, NIST 800-53), safeguarding confidentiality, integrity, and availability of applications and data.
  • Partner with client stakeholders, clinical users, and RESPEC engineers to maintain secure, efficient operations.
  • Operate within a highly regulated environment with strict security standards.
  • Provide Tier II/III database administration support and mentor junior staff.
  • Run day-to-day database operations: backups/recovery, patching, performance tuning, configuration, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, project artifacts, runbooks, and operational reports.
  • Design relational databases to third normal form (3NF) and support schema optimization.
  • Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Support the design, development, testing, and deployment of new/enhanced EHR applications.
  • Disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
  • Install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain UNIX/AIX infrastructure for EHR and related systems.

  • Experience in federal government or healthcare IT, preferably with EHR systems.
  • 4+ years of hands-on relational database administration (performance, recovery, security).
  • UNIX/AIX administration for database-backed applications.
  • Data modeling and normalization (3NF).
  • Experience with federal EHR platforms (e.g., VA VistA, DoD CHCS).
  • Strong collaboration and communication with clinical and federal stakeholders.
  • Eligibility for federal suitability clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of customer-facing technical support of database platforms at data center scale.
  • 8+ years of overall IT experience.
  • Relevant certifications in database administration and/or security.
