  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports documenting modelling methodology, input parameters, results, and potential environmental effects.
  • Develop water quality and/or geochemical models using Goldsim®, PHREEQC, or spreadsheet methods, as applicable to the project to support engineering design, permitting, operational optimization, and site reclamation.
  • Support and/or lead multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations, with responsibility for models and other project deliverables meetings expectations for quality and technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with surface water balance and groundwater modellers to identify and integrate touch-points between these models which may be developed concurrently.
  • Collaborate with geochemists to acquire relevant geochemical data and develop geochemical source terms.
  • Collaborate to integrate water quality monitoring data and modelling results into engineering studies, environmental assessments, and management plans.
  • Organize, manipulate, and evaluate large water quality databases.
  • Contribute to planning and implementing water quality projects including development of monitoring programs, tabulation of monitoring data, conducting QA/QC, presentation of results in tabular and graphical formats, and preparing reports.

  • Relevant professional designation, or eligibility for registration.
  • A high degree of proficiency with Goldsim® software for water quality modelling. Experience with other water modelling platforms would be beneficial.
  • Have a general understanding of surface water hydrology and groundwater flow through unsaturated and saturated media to identify potential contaminant transport pathways and environmental receptors.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and communication skills.
  • Academic background in geology, geochemistry, engineering, biology, or other relevant specialization. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience developing water quality models, geochemical source terms, and conducting water quality assessments applicable to the mining industry.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports in accordance with regulatory guidelines, and to communicate and liaise effectively with members of regulatory bodies, industry, special interest groups and First Nations are also required.
  • Knowledge and experience with applicable federal and provincial regulations and guidelines, preferably with a working knowledge of British Columbia, Ontario, Yukon, and/or Northwest Territories mine permitting processes.
  • Demonstrated experience balancing multiple project commitments and deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license, and willingness to undertake short term travel.
