Day‑to‑day duties involve carrying out site works safely and efficiently, often acting as the nominated safety person for the duration of the job. Core tasks include cable head changes, fuse replacement in cable heads and substations, fault location, generator deployment and connection, jointing work, and issuing or receipting required safety documentation. The role may also provide occasional assistance to other trade groups and requires proactive planning, adherence to health and safety procedures, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Candidates must have demonstrable experience in jointing, testing, and fault finding, with prior employment as an electrical cable jointer on LV, HV or EHV systems. A sound understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation, strong oral and written communication skills, and a customer‑focused attitude are essential. A valid driving licence is required, and while utilities experience is preferred, it is not mandatory.
ScottishPower offers a competitive salary reviewed annually together with a pension scheme that doubles employee contributions up to 10%.
