Perform safety orientation for all new employees (or delegate for Spanish). Assist People Ops Team in collecting new hire packets and benefit enrollment paperwork
Company representation to the construction community for industry safety programs. Responsible to build and maintain the standing and reputation of LCG and Safety for Life in the community.
Perform annual evaluations of safety team members for review of employee annual evaluations and report results to Safety Leadership
Represent all subsidiaries to our client and/or general contractors on matters of safety. Write site specific safety plans in coordination with Project Managers
Observe the value of safety equipment and PPE to ensure the best value and service. Field test new equipment as necessary to get employee input
Educate and train employees in best practices for safe work environments.
Provide mentorship and training to Safety Team members as needed
Manage Safety Team member work tasks and scheduling
Prepare quarterly reports for Safety Leadership that include a summary of incidents, identified contributing factors and any initiatives or goals established for improvement.
Ensure LCG Safety Team is supporting field operations effectively
Investigate all accidents and injuries to determine root causes and corrective action plans.
Collaborate with pre-construction team to identify safety hazards and plan for protective measures on potential projects
Assist with workers’ compensation claims, incident investigations, and return to work programs.
Promote Safety for Life culture as Company representative in dealings with clients, trade partners, Virginia Department of Labor and Industry representatives, and community activities
Develop training content and implement for managers, supervisors, and field employees to achieve LCG training targets and goals. Training includes but is not limited to: OSHA 10 and 30, First Aid & CPR, driver safety, silica hazards, fall protection, HAZCOM, and scaffold use.
Ensure pre-task planning and regular site inspections are performed and documented by the project team. Support site safety inspection process through regular Safety Team site visits. Use Company software to document and track safety reports and encourage project team members to utilize the software to document safety reports as well
Use data and observations from the field identify trends and address issues proactively in collaboration with the Project Team
Represent company for VOSH and other compliance officers during field inspections and for any safety citation. Attend VWC and VOSH hearings with company counsel. Actively promote and build relationships with VOSH through the voluntary consultation program.
