The AAON Controls Support Sales Application Engineer serves as the primary liaison between independent manufacturer’s representatives, consulting engineers, and mechanical contractors, delivering controls application recommendations and answering technical questions. The role involves analyzing job control specifications to match AAON solutions with customer requirements, providing advanced troubleshooting assistance, and conducting controls training, often requiring travel.
Key duties include cultivating relationships with the AAON Rep Force and internal teams to uncover sales gaps, consulting with reps and contractors on existing or potential application issues, and applying engineering expertise to create HVAC controls solutions. The engineer also provides price quotations, performs in‑house product testing, and supplies technical support to both customers and internal personnel, while collaborating on product modifications.
Candidates must possess at least a BA or BS degree in an HVAC‑related discipline or equivalent experience, with seven to ten years of HVAC or controls background considered in lieu of formal education. Professional Engineer licensure, EIT, or LEED certification is advantageous.
The role demands strong written and spoken English, excellent interpersonal skills, and analytical problem‑solving abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required; general computer knowledge and AutoCAD experience are beneficial. The engineer must be capable of independent work as well as effective teamwork.
Physical requirements include lifting up to 30 lb and prolonged seated desk work. The position involves regular travel and is subject to standard disclaimer that duties may evolve; reasonable accommodations are available for disabled employees.
