Senior Geospatial Analyst - Calibration Specialist

Description

The role focuses on sensor and swath calibration, alignment adjustments, and quality assurance of airborne, mobile, terrestrial, and UAV LiDAR datasets. Candidates are expected to understand sources of error in LiDAR data, process raw lidar formats, and perform both relative and absolute adjustments. The analyst will also create mapping products, manage databases, and develop scripts or macros across multiple GIS/LiDAR platforms.

• Perform quality checks on data after acquisition.
• Process airborne and mobile trajectory data.
• Extract and process LiDAR data from raw formats.
• Conduct relative and absolute LiDAR adjustments (calibration, alignment, registration).
• Execute QA/QC to ensure processed data meets accuracy standards.
• Review and validate post‑processed LiDAR datasets for completeness and accuracy.
• Verify point density, spatial distribution, and classification compliance.
• Perform quality assessments against project specifications, industry standards, and client guidelines.
• Evaluate point‑cloud characteristics such as noise, gaps, overlap, and vertical/horizontal accuracy.
• Document QA/QC findings and communicate results to project managers and technical staff.
• Generate digital mapping and remotely sensed products using various software platforms.
• Create and manage GIS databases.
• Process and manipulate elevation data.
• Develop LiDAR macros for automation.
• Apply problem‑solving techniques to technical challenges.
• Write technical reports summarizing analysis and results.
• Build scripts, models, and macros across multiple GIS/LiDAR environments.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, or a related field and have at least five years of experience in GIS/Remote Sensing. Required expertise includes LiDAR data extraction, elevation model creation, and proficiency with ESRI software, Terrascan, and MS Office. Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to solve problems and produce technical reports are also essential.

• Have expertise in LiDAR processing and elevation model creation/manipulation.
• Possess in‑depth knowledge of ESRI software suite.
• Familiarity with Terrascan (and optional PLTS toolkit).
• Proficient with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access).
• Exhibit strong verbal and written communication abilities.
