The Christman Building Innovation Group (CBIG) was created to initiate, champion and drive innovation and excellence across Christman’s multiple self-perform entities. In addition to 485 construction management and general contracting professionals, Christman currently employs more than 400 skilled trades men and women in carpentry, millwork, demolition, concrete, mass timber, earthwork, interiors, service and more. This group of construction and estimating professionals drives better service, cost efficiencies, safety solutions, technology advances and innovative practices for Christman’s self-perform operations nationally. CBIG connects our craftsmen and women to build upon regional successes and lessons learned across our offices in Michigan, Texas, Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee.
The VDC Manager will lead virtual design and construction services for projects in southeast Michigan. Responsibilities include managing BIM deliverables throughout planning, construction and close‑out; creating 3‑D coordination models, 4‑D schedules, quantity take‑offs and 6‑D facility‑management data; mentoring VDC coordinators and interns; partnering with marketing and business‑development teams; and evaluating new technologies such as VR/AR and advanced rendering.
Required qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, computer drafting/design or a related field, plus at least two years of engineering design or construction experience (or an equivalent mix of education and experience). The candidate must be proficient in AEC software (Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Synchro) and Microsoft Office, be self‑motivated, a problem‑solver, and able to communicate ideas clearly and work independently while meeting deadlines.
