Hybrid field/office surveying internship supporting data collection and deliverables.

Tasks

-Operates, cleans & maintains surveying equipment as directed. -Communicates with field staff, CAD Technicians, and project managers on a daily basis. -Maintains surveying gear and company vehicles. -Collects, processes, and downloads surveying field data. -Learns the function of point codes and automated linework. -Prepares clear, concise, and accurate field notes and sketches. -Follows FGI Safety Protocols and completes daily Job Safety Assessments (JSA)

What You Bring

-Primarily an office position, with the ability to work outside if needed. -Requires an attentiveness to ergonomics. -Previous field experience or desire to work outside. -Previous safety training (OSHA, First-Aid) -Familiar with the basic principles of surveying. -Valid US driver's license & good driving record -0+ years previous surveying experience -Requires lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, hammering, digging, and other physical activities. -Requires the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. -High School diploma or equivalent -Previous office or field experience preferred -Ability to work in various terrain & weather conditions and recognize safety hazards. -Ability to understand and operate current & new technology -Currently enrolled in a surveying curriculum program (AS, BS, Certificate) -Learns basic surveying principles such as leveling, traversing, public land surveys, metes & bounds, boundary surveys, and topographic mapping. -Ability to operate in a mentor / mentee Team atmosphere -Familiarizes themselves with traffic control operations based on field activities. -Ability to travel for field work (approximately 80%) -Basic math skills, including trigonometry, geometry, and algebra.
