  • Provide technical support and perform diversified testing for internal and external customers. May be required to work extended hours, be on-call and travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Evaluate equipment and assist in the installation and commissioning.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations like NPCC (Directory 11), NERC (PRC2, PRC 5), etc. as well as AVANGRID Testing & Commissioning requirements.
  • The Testing & Commissioning Senior Engineer will support to the resolution of problems using best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve company processes or projects. The Senior Engineer will be required to coordinate with teams/projects and solve complex problems taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Work in a group with guidance on only the most complex tasks. Follow updates in research and developments taking place in the power industry, through training and industry associations to stay abreast of new technologies.
  • Mentor and review work of others. Anticipates & make recommendations with respect to customer & stakeholder needs. Explains difficult concepts & influences others.
  • Duties: Evaluate equipment and develop complex test plans and procedures for commissioning, verifying, and troubleshooting. Participate in Industry associations.
  • Independently apply applicable testing & commissioning practices, guidelines, AVANGRID philosophies and procedures.
  • Identify training needs and assist in training technicians.
  • Duties: Analyze complex Testing problems. Recommend further testing and equipment serviceability. Utilize a broad prospective to investigate and identify innovative solutions to troubleshoot equipment and system problems.
  • Assist in the planning, managing, and direction of the activities of the Testing and Commissioning Department pertaining to the testing of protection, controls & automation of AVANGRID’s electrical equipment.
  • Develop business cases & manage projects or teams. Coordinate phases of testing for assigned portions of projects. Plan, schedule and monitor construction/test plans.
  • Duties: Represent Testing & Commissioning group to complete assigned tasks and projects. Act as liaison between engineering and the test technicians. Assist P&C in fault and equipment operation analysis. Assist in P&C in complex fault analyses. Manage and provide direction for resources outside of the department. Mentor and develop others.
  • Perform detailed, complex engineering analyses, review designs and calculations using standard methodology & principles & other viable approaches. Develop alternatives to resolve problems or to improve processes/services.
  • Relay Testing and Maintenance
  • Participate in the development, review and continuous improvement of testing and commissioning procedures and related activities.
  • Duties: Answer/resolve complex technical field problems as they arise related to equipment and schemes.

  • BS/BA degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET (or equivalent) accredited college/university, 5 years’ experience performing engineering duties or an AS degree with 9 years’ experience performing engineering duties. Specialized advanced training is also required (e.g. PTI. WPI , ECNE PUI, a graduate level engineering degree).
  • Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment (Competent) – Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and requirements
