Read and comprehend contract plans and specifications and appropriate guidelines for roadway and bridge construction in order to ensure contractor compliance.
Inspect the quality of materials being placed and the contractor methods of construction to ensure compliance to specifications.
Prepare contract quality and quantity documentation for final submittal.
Prepare final contract quality documentation and checks final contract estimates for completeness and determination of final contract costs.
Prepare appropriate paperwork.
Inspect and document work performed by contractors. Also has authority to suspend non-specification procedures until the Project Manager is notified.
Suspend work on projects for non-specification procedures and non-specification materials until the Project Manager is notified.
Review contractor’s and agency test results for completeness, accuracy and acceptability.
Verify the quality of the field tested materials incorporated into the project by the contractor, such as soil, crushed aggregates; Portland Concrete and Asphalt Concrete are within specifications.
Review test data.
Calculate and verify material quantities using calculators, computer, and engineering principles to determine and check field notes for correct pay and quantities.
Ensure all quality documentation is complete and complies with specifications.
Verify the quality and acceptability of construction materials and authorize that they be entered into the contract payment system.
Calculate price adjustments for incorporated materials.
Communicate action taken to project inspector, PM and other appropriate personnel.
Prepare and maintain the test summary for materials on each project including but not limited to supporting data for semifinal submittal.
Interpret contract plans and specifications for roadway and bridge construction to ensure contract compliance.
Check quality and quantity of materials received on the project by the contractor, such as pipe, guardrail, reinforcing steel, and landscaping items.
Assure that the Contractors Quality Compliance program meets required standards for all projects assigned to the Project Manager’s office.
Ensure tests are performed, documented and submitted to the Project Manager’s office in accordance to the specifications.
Assist the contract payments specialist with the following duties:
Randomly inspect for proper sampling and testing procedures and confirms technician certifications.
Assures product compliance samples are collected and submitted to construction section.
Measure and write pay notes for construction pay items and compute quantities.
Assist the contract administrative specialist with the following duties:
Review preliminary and advanced plans for appropriate material specifications.

Minimum of 2 years experience with asphalt, concrete, aggregate, or soil materials testing.
5 years of previous experience with ODOT Quality Control/Assurance testing, or Quality Control/Assurance oversight.
