Actively contribute innovative approaches and ideas
Interface with suppliers on engineering specification/documentation inquiries
Evaluate and solve technical issues in product development
Updates and validates Purchase Specifications, per internal guidance
Performs 2D CAD red-line mark-ups from supervisory engineers
Updates Vendor-Furnished Information, per supervisor guidance
Generate reports, as required
Support cost saving activities
Collaborate with both internal and external customers on technical matters
Mechanical Engineering: Support mechanical design and analysis for ship systems, including propulsion and HVAC systems.
Participate in supporting field surveys and other field-related tasks, as directed by immediate supervisor and in support of the Field Engineering group
Program Engineering: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project planning, scheduling, and execution.
Create, change, or maintain technical documentation in support of ship design products
Performs basic engineering calculations
Electrical Engineering: Assist in the design, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and components.
Naval Architecture: Contribute to hull form design, stability calculations, and weight assessments.
Contribute to assigned projects and maintain appropriate engineering procedures throughout the product development process to achieve engineering deliverables which include cost, reliability and manufacturing objectives

Candidate will be working in our production facility offices, with significant time working with and around production. Must be comfortable working in a construction-based environment.
Candidates must meet the following employment eligibility guidelines to be considered for employment with Austal USA:
Systematic troubleshooting abilities/root cause analysis
Strong sense of ownership
Ability to work in a Production environment
Strong written and communication skills required
Eagerness to learn and contribute to complex engineering projects
Proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Currently maintaining a minimum 2.0 overall grade point average (4.0 scale)
Willing to submit to a drug screen
18 years of age or older at time of application
No felony convictions of Theft/Deception or Violent crimes within seven years from disposition date
Demonstrated knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD design software preferred
Willing to submit to a background check
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Naval Architecture with an accredited university
Successful completion of Second Semester of discipline-specific Engineering or Naval Architecture Curriculum (latest release date).
Candidates will be trained on current Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) software and must demonstrate basic navigational expertise within first 30 days of employment.
