In this role you will create and mentor a resilient team, expand client relationships, identify project opportunities, and maintain a strong industry presence. Supporting the production of technical deliverables—including plans, specifications, estimates, and reports—is a core responsibility.
The manager will support strategic business growth through targeted development, project pursuit, industry engagement, and recruiting, and will also assist projects outside the local market in agreed‑upon roles. Collaboration with peers and senior leadership across markets will ensure balanced workloads and work‑life integration. The position involves overseeing engineering production, making authoritative decisions, and engaging senior‑level management for dispute resolution and negotiation.

We are hiring an experienced professional for immediate placement to lead and manage our Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and Transportation Technology group in Denver, Colorado, serving also Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho. The ITS/Transportation Technology Manager will act as the state leader for this technical practice, collaborating closely with transportation department leadership and serving as an ambassador for advanced transportation services.
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree with ten years of relevant experience, including two years of leadership, and U.S. citizenship are required. Preferred candidates hold a bachelor’s in engineering with fifteen‑plus years of experience, a Colorado Professional Engineer license, and a proven reputation in transportation technology within the mountain states. Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple project responsibilities, are essential.

- Initiate and maintain contact with senior‑level management, skilled in dispute resolution and negotiation of critical issues.

- BA/BS plus 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency, including 2 years of leadership.

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 15+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency.
- 5+ years of leadership experience desired.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Colorado.
- Experience managing a team of transportation professionals.
- Established external reputation in transportation technology solutions within Colorado or other mountain states.
- Experience working for or selling to public sector agencies, especially in ITS and emerging transportation technology.
- Knowledge or experience in ITS design, connected/automated vehicle systems, systems engineering, and Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSMO).
- Experience in proposal development and other business development activities.
- Team‑oriented and able to work in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate problems and solutions clearly to clients, leadership, and technical staff.
- Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and research skills.
- Ability to balance project responsibilities, budgets, and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and quality.
