Purpose: Assign motor vehicles and drivers for conveyance of building materials by performing duties such as compiling vehicle lists, assigning vehicles and orders, issuing keys, recording trips, investigating overdue vehicles and directing drivers.
- Compile list of available vehicles.
- Assign vehicles based on trip length, purpose, freight or passenger needs, and user preference.
- Assign orders to lift operators to be pulled from inventory.
- Issue keys, record sheets, and credentials to drivers.
- Record departure time, destination, cargo, and expected return time.
- Investigate overdue vehicles.
- Direct driver activities via two‑way radio.
- Confer with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed, or damaged merchandise.
- Maintain records of mileage, fuel usage, repairs, and other expenses.
- Establish service or delivery routes.
- Assign helpers to drivers.
- Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Present information effectively and respond to employee, customer, and management inquiries.
- Perform arithmetic operations in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
- Apply common‑sense understanding to follow written, oral or diagram instructions.
- Solve problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED and six months to one year of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Competencies required are the ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures or regulations, write basic business correspondence, present information and answer questions, perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure, apply common‑sense instructions and solve problems involving several concrete variables.
Work environment and physical activity: The role primarily involves sitting, occasional standing, and occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles and outdoor weather. Noise levels are usually moderate, and reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
