The Area Sales Manager (ASM) drives growth across direct and indirect customer accounts throughout the Mid‑Atlantic, focusing on establishing new OEM and machine‑builder relationships. The role influences purchasing decisions, expands market share on new and existing designs, and delivers strategic sales results through collaborative, solution‑oriented selling. Up to 50 % travel is required.
The ASM is responsible for all customer locations in NY, PA, NJ, and MD, working closely with distributor commercial teams and internal groups such as customer service, application engineering, product line managers, and manufacturing engineering. Key competencies include strong mechanical aptitude and deep knowledge of Kollmorgen motors, drives, and controls, as well as industry insight to identify growth opportunities. The role demands relationship‑building, ROI‑based solution selling, negotiation, conflict resolution, and the ability to adapt communication for technical and executive audiences. Effective planning, time management, and cross‑functional collaboration are essential for delivering customer success.
Candidates should hold a BA/BS in industrial technology, mechanical/electrical engineering, business, or a related field, with experience able to substitute for education. The position offers a base salary between $70 K and $163 K plus commission, with the exact figure dependent on location, skill set, experience, and internal compensation benchmarks. Federal export‑control laws restrict eligibility to U.S. persons or those who can obtain a licensing exception.
