SPA Quantity Surveyor

Description

Reporting to the Managing/Senior QS, you will be accountable for commercial and cost management from inception through close‑out, ensuring cost control, value maximisation, risk mitigation, quality, safety and full compliance with Alliance and Anglian Water governance procedures.

Embedded in an integrated delivery team, you will provide commercial challenge, support delivery management and on‑site teams, and work closely with procurement, construction managers and the Project Installation Assembly Manager.

• Deliver commercial and cost management for a £50m+ project from inception through close‑out.
• Provide robust estimates aligned to scope, incorporating risks, opportunities and data transfer to the Alliance procurement system.
• Prepare, manage and monitor sub‑contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, communications, payments and early warnings.
• Collaborate with procurement, construction and installation managers to develop and execute procurement strategies.
• Attend site regularly to challenge allowances, manage change control, and drive out‑performance.
• Produce accurate live forecasts and weekly cost reports against baseline, value of work done and affordability targets.
• Analyse cost variances, highlight underlying reasons and propose corrective actions.
• Maintain timely records of deliveries (GRNs) in line with Anglian Water and partner requirements.
• Ensure all project team members understand contractual arrangements and support risk mitigation planning.

Requirements

The ideal candidate holds a degree in construction or commercial management, a professional qualification such as RIC, CIOB or ICE, a thorough knowledge of NEC3 contracts, experience in complex matrix teams, a full UK driving licence and strong communication and analytical skills.
