The Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for sourcing, screening, and recruiting qualified candidates for various construction roles, partnering with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and create recruitment strategies, conducting interviews, negotiating offers, and ensuring a positive experience for both internal and external candidates throughout the hiring process.
- Support Regional and Corporate Management to identify staffing needs and resolve turnover gaps
- Identify staffing needs during new project transitions and recommend personnel reassignment
- Evaluate interns for full‑time employment opportunities
- Partner with leadership to establish manpower needs, explore market expansion, and develop strategic plans
- Recommend and evaluate recruiting events and outreach programs
- Build relationships with military bases through career events and local outreach
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local recruiting regulations
- Post and advertise open positions
- Review and screen resumes and applications
- Conduct pre‑screening interviews, provide feedback, and coordinate follow‑up interviews
- Draft offer letters based on interview discussions
- Work with staffing agencies, social media, and advertising agencies as needed
- Continuously promote the Baker brand
- Oversee travel/relocation arrangements and Visa paperwork
- Follow up with new hires and managers to ensure a positive employment experience
- Establish trust with candidates by fostering relationships and communicating core values
- Maintain a networking "Black Book" through construction associations and events
- Utilize the LMS and promote coworker usage
- Manage the Applicant Tracker, mine resume repository, and document candidate status
- Use The Marketing Collective for recruitment presentations and materials
- Ensure all record keeping is up to date
- Attend HR staff meetings and contribute to HR objectives and systems
- Champion an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) environment and follow safety guidelines
- Comply with proper safety procedures

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree and eight years of experience, preferably in construction, and possesses strong communication, analytical, and technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, recruiting platforms, and HRIS systems. They must be able to build relationships, manage talent pipelines, maintain confidentiality, and adapt to a fast‑paced environment with frequent travel.

- Knowledge of SuccessFactors (preferred) and experience with applicant tracking systems
- Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of coworkers in a team environment
- Strong networking, relationship‑building, and mentoring abilities
- Skilled in talent pool development, negotiation, and maintaining confidentiality
- Adaptability, problem‑solving, and creative solution development for recruitment challenges

- Willingness to travel up to 50% (minimum 25%) and handle occasional site visits
