Develop and deliver geotechnical designs for SP Transmission Network projects.
Ensure geotechnical engineering designs and construction practices are in accordance with current legislation, policies and operational requirements.
Advise on the development of pre-contract design and delivery of projects by supporting the geotechnical aspects of SPTs civil engineering works.
Maintain an awareness of technological advances and industry best practice. Assist with evaluation and apply ‘new ideas’, technical developments, new equipment and alternative-working methods to provide cost savings, efficiencies and improved safety.
Provide technical support to Project Unit teams on matters concerning the design and construction of civil/structural elements of the works.
Provide technical assessment of tender submissions and report recommendations.
Perform all duties with a strong emphasis on health, safety, quality and environment compliance, innovation and continuous improvement.
Prepare basic and detailed engineering specifications for GeoEnvironmental investigations associated with the SP Transmission network.
Liaise across multi-disciplinary engineering teams to provide integrated solutions for SP Transmission.
Witness on-site geotechnical testing to ensure the substation platforms are being built in accordance with SPT specifications and requirements
Contribute to training needs assessment for new products and standards etc and the development and delivery of technical, construction and safety training packages.
Prepare/review drawings and earthworks specifications.

Knowledge of SP Energy Networks or other industry technical specifications
Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering with relevant experience.
Incorporated/Chartered Civil Engineer or working towards membership of an appropriate professional body
Experience of geotechnical engineering design required for electrical network transmission and distribution projects (earthworks, substation platforms, access roads, foundations etc).
Experience with MS office suite, Autodesk AEC suite and other relevant software
Full UK driving licence
Good inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with other individuals, departments and businesses.
Civil or geotechnical engineering diploma/degree with relevant experience
Requirement to undertake short trips away from home as required
