Project Engineer

Description

• Develop engineering designs for permitting and construction permits in collaboration with project managers and team members.
• Manage civil/environmental engineering projects including land development, soil and erosion control, and stormwater permitting.
• Analyze technical reports, submittals, maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photos to assess site conditions.
• Review regulations, permitting requirements, and standards to inform design decisions.
• Produce high-quality deliverables under tight deadlines while handling multiple assignments.
• Conduct field work and attend client and stakeholder meetings; travel up to 15%.
• Mentor junior engineers, delegate tasks, and facilitate group meetings across local, national, and global teams.

Requirements

The firm is looking for a self‑starting Project Civil/Environmental Engineer to support an expanding portfolio of U.S. projects across energy, industrial, and transportation sectors. The role involves collaborating with scientists, engineers, project managers, and technical experts on civil design and environmental permitting for site development, reclamation, and restoration initiatives. Experience with federal and state environmental permitting is essential.

• BS in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering (or related field) and passed the FE exam.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in civil/environmental engineering.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, or similar terrain‑modeling software.
• Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling tools (e.g., HydroCAD, WinTR‑55, PondPack, HEC‑RAS).
• MS in a related engineering discipline (preferred).
• OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred).
• Professional Engineering license(s) (preferred).
• Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (preferred).
• VADEQ‑certified plan reviewer/inspector for erosion‑sediment control or stormwater management (preferred).
