Description

The Specification Specialist II role supports design and construction projects by developing clear, compliant specifications that align with drawings, standards, and regulations. The specialist also maintains corporate‑level master specification sections and assists with legal and front‑end documentation, ensuring that material and procedural recommendations are technically sound.

• Prepare design development and contract document specifications, ensuring compatibility with drawings and technical conditions.
• Write technical specifications that meet project requirements, accepted standards, laws, rules, regulations, and codes.
• Prepare bid sheets and the measurement and payment sections of specifications.
• Assist with legal and front‑end specifications, including general conditions, supplemental general conditions, and related documents.
• Recommend materials, procedures, and technical specification requirements, overseeing the production of complete documents.
• Maintain and update corporate master specification sections to reflect changes in the construction industry.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of five years’ experience working with specifications.
• Ability to recommend appropriate materials, procedures, and technical specification content.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrated commitment to active participation in HDR’s employee‑owned, inclusive culture.
