Chief Engineer

Description

The Chief Engineer will lead the engineering team in safely and efficiently operating building machinery and systems, aiming for 100 % uptime while protecting and enhancing client asset value through reliability‑based maintenance and continuous improvement of mechanical performance.

• Monitor and maintain HVAC, refrigeration, water‑cooling, boiler, pump, valve, piping and filter equipment, reviewing logs and reporting issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance, oversee repairs, and coordinate preventive maintenance schedules for mechanical systems.
• Manage inventory of tools and supplies, prepare purchase orders and ensure adequate stock levels.
• Supervise contractors working in the building, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards.
• Identify safety hazards, implement remediation, and administer a comprehensive safety‑training program.
• Maintain up‑to‑date infrastructure documentation, including building drawings, single‑line diagrams and regulatory records.
• Lead, hire, train and develop engineers and maintenance staff, promoting a clear understanding of the Critical Facility Work Authorization process.
• Provide hands‑on training on tool usage, basic maintenance, safety and troubleshooting, and recommend external engineering courses.

Requirements

• Require at least 7 years of facility‑related experience with leadership responsibilities and strong customer‑service skills.
• Possess comprehensive knowledge of maintenance processes, HVAC, fluid handling, mechanical and electrical systems, and construction planning.
• Hold an Associate’s degree in an engineering discipline, Universal Technician certification (or obtain within 90 days), and an Operating Engineer’s license (or equivalent).
