Tasks

-Ensure systems are installed and commissioned in accordance with local codes and standards, manufacturer requirements, and customer contract documents. -Conduct site walk-throughs, attend project meetings, and communicate technical requirements with contractors, electrical sub-contractors, and end-users. -Mentor junior staff and provide training on best practices and code interpretations as required. -Track project progress, verify installations, and help ensure deadlines and budget targets are met. -Develop and review project submittals, shop drawings, and bill of materials. -Serve as the technical lead for large complex fire alarm projects—including review of project plans, specifications, and site requirements. -Coordinate and oversee fire alarm system layout, setup, programming, testing, and commissioning to ensure code compliance and customer satisfaction. -Work closely with design teams, CAD technicians, project managers, and field technicians to ensure accurate and timely completion of deliverables. -Support final testing, inspections, and turnover/warranty documentation for completed systems. -Troubleshoot and resolve field technical issues as needed; provide support and guidance to field technicians and installers.

What You Bring

-Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical diagrams, construction documents, and technical specifications. -High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electrical, electronics, or related discipline preferred. -Ability to travel locally to project sites as required; valid driver’s license. -5+ years’ experience in fire alarm system design, installation, project coordination, or commissioning (field or office). -Familiarity with BCBC, CEC and ULC codes and standards for fire alarm and life safety systems. -Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with project management or documentation tools; CAD or system design software experience a plus. -CFAA certification in Fire Alarm Systems preferred or willingness to obtain. -Proven hands-on technical knowledge of large complex fire alarm, VESDA, or similar life safety systems (Simplex, Notifier, or similar platforms preferred). -Strong organization, communication, and project coordination skills.
