  • Assist the EPC Projects Manager, Directors, and Department Managers in recruitment and development of EPC engineering project-managers-in-training and EPC project managers.
  • Responsible for monitoring project metrics with engineering project management team to:
  • Adherence and promotion of Burns & McDonnell’s safety programs, training, and policies for assigned projects and management of Safety & Health performance of project team members.
  • Comply with all company policies and standards.
  • Support the development of EPC objectives and key results. Support company, global practice, and business line key results.
  • Facilitate collaboration with EPC management and other regions to coordinate business plans and assist in the pursuit of substation EPC opportunities.
  • Oversee T&D engineering management team financials and report findings to Directors.
  • Promote and confirm Engineering alignment with Procurement and Construction teams
  • Participate in identification of target client opportunities and oversee engineering coordination of the pursuit with the Sales team, EPC management, and seller-doers.
  • Develop and mentor direct reports and others interested in the EPC engineering project management career path.
  • Facilitate the development of strong collaboration between the T&D Business Lines and EPC organization.
  • Promote an EPC culture across the T&D group by helping staff projects, providing mentorship and oversight, and championing EPC.
  • Responsible for conducting performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Proactively work through corrective actions where deficiencies are identified
  • Responsible for ensuring alignment and support of business line managers, project manager and project-manager-in-training staff development, quality control and resource coordination.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and project management lessons learned on non-technical issues and financial under performance. Work with EPC management team to develop action plans to prevent reoccurrence of issues.
  • Oversee the engineering profitability and financial performance of EPC projects
  • Participate in and/or facilitate T&D pursuit decisions, in collaboration with EPC management, including “go/no-go” decisions, marketing strategies, proposals, pricing, contract terms and conditions.
  • Develop and implement EPC engineering management training. Coordinate with other internal organizations as it relates to EPC engineering management training and development.
  • Work with the EPC management team and the Project Operations Manager to identify and implement project management methods, procedures, tools, and technology to capture and execute work more profitably.
  • Oversee engineering schedule development and compliance on projects
  • Collaborate on the technology and workflow strategy to increase project execution and engineering management efficiency for pursuing and delivering EPC engineering deliverables.
  • Develop and advocate for an EPC Engineering Project Management career path, including the development of people, tools, and best practices.
  • Drive and support a positive culture of leadership, collaboration, innovation, and service to make our clients and Burns & McDonnell successful.
  • Oversee implementation and consistency of project management methods, procedures, and tools
  • Identify and assign engineering management resources for EPC pursuits and projects.
  • Identify and oversee implementation of effective change management practices
  • Assist EPC management with contract reviews, negotiation, and advisement as necessary.
  • Advocate for all MacCulture Principles.
  • Support EPC management and account management teams for the development and administration of client capture plans.
  • Promote and confirm implementation of BMcD Quality Control procedures
  • Coordinate with Department Managers, Technical Managers and Project Execution Managers to drive and grow engineering capabilities for EPC projects.
  • Advise staff on the development of engineering scopes of work, schedules, budgets, risk management, and resource management during the pursuit process and during project execution.
  • Supporting Burns & McDonnell’s engineering leadership in the EPC market through strategic planning and business plan development with a focus on continued growth in EPC market share and profit.

  • Demonstrated experience in the adherence to the pursuit process.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients
  • Previous leadership and/or management experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management methodologies and tools including EcoSys, Microsoft Project, PowerBI, and other data modeling systems.
  • Licensed professional engineer or project management professional certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related degree from an accredited program and 7 years relevant professional experience in substation engineering design and/or project management required.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management including proposal development, project planning and execution, design team coordination & communication, budgeting, schedule management, safety, quality, and client coordination.
  • Relevant engineering management experience with EPC projects.
