- Prepares technical and regulatory reports, researches issues to support ESH program execution, evaluates data, and reports performance trends.
- Supervises a safety services program, or a major component of it, inclusive of technical and administrative aspects.
- Builds and maintains working relationships with stakeholders and addresses their issues.
- Emphasizes and uses risk assessment, data analysis, and Bechtel’s ESH Management System to help track and achieve continual improvement.
- Provides technical support within ESH teams and to Engineering, Construction, Commissioning and Startup, Operations, Legal, Contracts, Procurement, Management, and other functions regarding ESH program execution.
- Provides input to Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Subcontracts, Commissioning, and other groups involving significant safety and health issues, risks, and techniques to reduce adverse impacts on the project
- Prepares, or helps prepare, Safety and Health Management Plans and awareness and training programs in compliance with Bechtel standards, the ESH Management System, and contract and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures that safety and health requirements are integrated within bid proposals, planning documents, design criteria, construction and commissioning plans, schedules, and subcontract documents.
- Participates in ESH emergency preparedness planning and confirms investigation and resolution of safety and health incidents.
- Facilitates execution of the safety component of a health and safety program inclusive of technical and administrative aspects for assigned area
- Participates in and leads meetings with customers, team members, and contractors/subcontractors to advise them of safety and health requirements
- Drafts and implements Safety and Health Management Plans, associated plans and procedures, and training program
- Researches complex issues and regulatory requirements, performs studies and risk assessments, and prepares documentation and reports
- Supervises assigned safety personnel and provides guidance on their work activities.

- ICAM or TapRoot Certificate preferred
- Working knowledge of safe work practices and experience in conducting incident investigations, compliance audits and project health surveys
- Previous Senior Advisor/Supervisory experience is essential
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to occupational safety or health and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
- Minimum of ten years of WHS professional experience in heavy construction or infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of safety management, monitoring programs, principles, and methodologies
