Perform technical review of process flow sheets, detail drawings, equipment arrangement/layouts as well as sizing and/or selection of stationary equipment and components related to nuclear steam plant and balance of plant, with specific focus on ensuring the maintenance-based design features and ease of plant operation and equipment maintenance requirements are fully met.
Provide engineering support to quality surveillance, manufacturing, assembly and testing with non-conformances.
Review and approve supplier's capability to fabricate the required component within the applicable requirements with focus on equipment maintenance-based design.
Coordinate with clients on both large scale new and ongoing nuclear steam plants and balance of plant of considerable technical and commercial complexity and provide technical advice and guidance for the overall design and O&M recommendations for upkeep, economic and reliable operation of critical stationary equipment.
Develop mechanical equipment technical specifications, component specification sheets (data sheets), technical tender packages, vendor interface, review and technical evaluation of equipment bids, prepare equipment purchase recommendations and all related technical activities.
Work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and client and company procedures.
Review design reports, analysis reports, calculations, documents and drawings in support of design verification.
Conduct site visits at nuclear generating stations, construction sites and factory for inspection and testing of equipment.
Provide consultation and/or review of engineering quotation request packages and purchase requisitions.
Conduct technical meetings with peers, clients and suppliers, write and follow up action plans and prepare detailed technical reports.
Interact with peers and other related disciplines and provide mechanical equipment design related input for the preparation of deliverables including technical specifications, component specification sheets, plant layout, inspection and test procedures, commissioning plans and registration design submissions for components and mechanical systems.

Solid understanding of process systems, equipment design, operation and maintenance procedures, materials, material selection and fundamentals of machine component design. Solid understanding and experience in equipment sizing calculations, selection, and troubleshooting issues.
Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering.
Qualification in the last five (5) years as a Specialized Professional Engineer to ASME Section III Appendix XXIII for Division 1 will be considered as an asset.
A strong and well recognized collaborator/team-player with an overall understanding and proven experience of inter-discipline coordination and interface with Clients, Process System, Electrical / I&C, Civil/Structural, Safety & Reliability, and Piping Engineers.
Solid knowledge on wind and seismic design.
Able to guide a team of junior and intermediate engineers, provide mentoring and coaching and impart training and knowledge transfer.
Comprehensive understating and working knowledge of CSA-N285.0, CSA-N285.4, CSA-N286, CSA N289.1, CSA N289.3, CSA N299.1~4, CSA B51, API-510, API-579-1, API-650, API-660, API-661, API-667, ASME Section II, Section III, Section V, Section VIII, Section IX and Section-XI, TEMA Standard, ASCE 7, National Building Code of Canada and other related Canadian/US and International codes and standards.
A proven experience of 15-20 years in a senior engineer role in the mechanical equipment design disciplines of EPC companies or reputed power sector OEMs, preferably in the Candu nuclear power plants, thermal power plants, oil refineries, petrochemical or any other process plants excluding metal fabrication and automotive assembly, covering major system and critical equipment, mechanical design and operation and maintenance of industrial machines, and equipment engineering knowledge of pressure vessels, reactors, process columns, heat exchangers – shell and tube, plate and frame, spiral plate, air-cooled type etc. -, atmospheric storage tanks, filters/strainers, mechanical agitators/mixers, and associated mechanical components, as applicable to nuclear plants.
A working knowledge of/ and establish experience using nuclear pressure boundary Codes and Standards is an asset.
Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, qualified to seal engineering documents.
Strong written and oral communication skills with focus on technical report writing.
