  • Reading, reviewing, and working from contract drawings (blueprints) and contract specifications, and making comments/recommendations regarding maintenance aspects of proposed new construction or alterations.
  • Review and comment on contract drawings and facility alterations and evaluate them for their impact on the operation and maintenance systems.
  • Performing audits on materials, equipment, inventoried spare parts, etc.
  • Participating in the unit’s electrical safety program.
  • Performing airfield inspections and walkthroughs.
  • Administering and supervising airfield electrical maintenance routines to maintain compliance with FAA FAR 139 certifications.
  • Planning, initiating, and directing the instruction of assigned personnel in work methods and techniques, safe work practices, and use of materials and equipment.
  • Providing ongoing support for facility construction projects.
  • Developing and analyzing maintenance functions to ensure the most efficient utilization of workforce and equipment.
  • Supervising the work of subordinates and training new employees.
  • Supporting and updating the unit’s roster or routines as approved by the Unit Chief.
  • Participating in project scoping, design, and construction meetings.
  • Attending meetings with multiple disciplines at all staff levels.
  • Attending interim and final inspections.

  • Comprehensive experience in the operation and maintenance of low and medium voltage circuit breakers and substations up to 27kV
  • Comprehensive experience in the operation and maintenance motors and motor control centers
  • Comprehensive experience in the construction and/or maintenance of complex utility or industrial electrical distribution systems
  • The successful candidate must be able to respond to declared emergencies, including snow conditions, and work on an overtime basis as a regular function of the job.
  • Must have demonstrated written, oral, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with various levels of Port Authority staff and Federal Agencies, as well as external contractors, tenants, and customers.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects involving the construction , building, or maintenance trades.
  • Experience managing staff in a unionized environment .
  • Comprehensive experience in the operation and maintenance fixed and portable generating equipment
  • Demonstrated experience implementing process improvement changes in facility environments.
  • The successful candidate must be able to effectively plan, schedule, and control maintenance projects and routines.
  • Knowledgeable of the National Electrical Code.
  • Must have ten (10) years electrical maintenance experience including five (5) years at or above the journey level or equivalent, and at least two (2) years at the foreman or supervisory level or equivalent.
  • The successful candidate must be available to respond to declared emergencies and must be able to work on an overtime basis as a regular function of the job
  • Strong knowledge of airport terminal , landside, and aeronautical operations.
  • Comprehensive experience in the operation and maintenance roadway lighting systems and signalized intersections
  • Familiarity with FAA FAR-139, and the guidance and intent of FAA AC-150/5340-26C, “Recommended Guidelines for Maintenance of Airport Visual Aid Facilities”.
  • Thorough knowledge of asset management systems such as IBM MAXIMO .
  • Comprehensive experience in the operation and maintenance of FPLS systems
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Comprehensive experience in the operation and maintenance aeronautical lighting systems and equipment
  • Demonstrated experience with the use of personal computers, including the Microsoft Office suite of tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, etc.), Google Earth, Microsoft Access, and Visio.
