The position provides supervision and coordination for a crew of ironworking personnel, planning work, selecting techniques, and training staff in equipment operation while maintaining safety and professionalism. Travel to various in‑state and out‑of‑state sites may be required.
Key duties include on‑site supervision to interpret drawings, coordination of multiple trades, enforcement of quality standards, and communication of issues to the project supervisor. The role also involves monitoring crew performance, reviewing project progress and costs, recommending procedural improvements, and ensuring proper documentation flow and policy compliance.
The incumbent will perform hands‑on structural steel work such as bolting columns, beams, and girders, assembling hoisting and rigging systems, aligning members for permanent connections, and conducting welding activities in accordance with AWS codes. Operation of material‑handling equipment, minor equipment maintenance, and responsible tool care are also required.

- Align and secure structural steel members for riveting, bolting, or welding.
- Execute welding operations following AWS codes with minimal supervision.
- Set up and operate welding equipment per required processes.
- Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, lifts, etc.) safely.
- Conduct minor maintenance on job‑related equipment and care for tools.
- Observe all safety procedures and work comfortably at heights.

Candidates must have at least five years of ironworker journeyman experience, including two years in a supervisory capacity, a strong grasp of structural steel erection, hoisting, and rigging methods, and the ability to work independently and plan work to schedule. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and OSHA or other safety certifications are desirable; applicants must also pass a 3G/4G structural weld test.
The job demands frequent walking, climbing, bending, standing, and lifting of 40 lb or more, with exposure to extreme heat, high noise levels, and heights above 10 ft.
