What you would be doing

Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
Maintain active membership in professional organizations and societies
Represent the company at client meetings, conferences, and trade shows, including speaking engagements on subject-matter expertise
Select appropriate materials and equipment following sound scientific methodology
Consult with clients, scientists, engineers, architects, and vendors to determine optimal, cost-effective solutions
Ensure all scientific/engineering work aligns with professional standards and good scientific practices
Supervise and assume responsibility for all work under your direction
Promote Thompson Engineering services and pursue project opportunities
Prepare and oversee Phase I and Phase II ESA proposals and reports; have working knowledge of NPDES Permits, SWPPPs, SPCC Plans, and conduct stormwater compliance inspections. Perform and/or supervise field sampling events and guide technicians and junior scientists
Ensure technical accuracy and quality of all client deliverables
Organize and manage personnel to ensure efficiency and adherence to budget
Follow all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety and quality
Develop and maintain relationships with clients and regulatory agencies
Write clear, concise technical specifications and proactively gather necessary information
Lead preliminary design studies, project planning, and layout activities
Mentor, motivate, and guide junior staff
Develop accurate resource and personnel estimates for project execution
Coordinate efforts with interdisciplinary teams, including engineering, purchasing, and management
Participate in marketing efforts and business development by providing project write-ups and resume updates as needed
Prepare detailed technical reports, cost estimates, and schedules in compliance with applicable regulations

Demonstrate consistent and punctual attendance
Preferred: Experience with Phase I and Phase II ESAs, NPDES permitting, and Clean Water Act compliance
Ability to travel occasionally, including field work and site visits as needed
Demonstrate leadership and sound decision-making
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field from an accredited institution
Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime based on project demands
Minimum of 10 years of environmental consulting or experience with federal/state environmental regulatory agencies
Certification/Registration as a Professional (or Master's degree in a field without licensure requirements)
