Description

The Railcar Repair Technician works under direct supervision to perform repairs on rail cars according to written work orders, including part replacement, welding, and straightening. Additional duties may include track repair or cleanup as required.

• Follow all safety rules, procedures, and regulations.
• Perform welding in horizontal and flat positions.
• Use a cutting torch safely and efficiently.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Keep the work area clean and free of trash, scrap, and debris.

Requirements

• Have a basic understanding of railcar parts for both hoppers and tanks.
• Read and understand work orders to complete assigned tasks.
• Recent graduates of welding program with certification.
• Basic math, reading comprehension, and writing skills.
• Basic knowledge and general use of hand and power tools required.
• Mechanical, welding, or valve knowledge/experience a plus.
• Must be able to stoop for extended periods and routinely move from kneeling to standing positions.
• Ability to work M-F 6:30 am‑3:00 pm with as‑needed overtime.
• Must be able to perform overhead work for extended periods.
• Lifting (vertically) 50 lb from floor to 36 inches, repeated five times.
• Pushing/pulling 50 lb for a distance of 10 ft, repeated five times.
• Repetitive posture: forward bend to reach six inches from the floor, repeated five times.
• Crawl forward ten feet, one instance.
• Climbing: vertical ladder 4 ft, repeated four times.
• Must be able to work in extreme temperature environments.
• Must pass a pre‑employment background check, physical, and drug screening.
