Fire Risk Assessor (Sub-Contracting) - South Coast

Description

The consultant will produce high‑quality fire risk assessment reports, act as the primary contact for customers during site visits, and positively influence the client’s perception of the company. Recommendations will be given verbally on‑site and recorded formally.

• Conduct comprehensive fire risk assessments for commercial, industrial, and domestic buildings.
• Deliver accurate, high‑quality fire risk assessment reports and verbal recommendations on‑site.
• Serve as the main customer liaison during site visits, ensuring a positive perception of the company.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of fire legislation and apply it to assessments.
• Collaborate with the admin team to implement effective working practices.
• Ensure best‑practice methods and quality service for all fire risk assessment customers.
• Meet report delivery deadlines through effective organization and workload planning.

Requirements

The position is for Fire Consultants / Fire Risk Assessors (FRA) based in Dorchester, Bournemouth or Southampton. Candidates must evidence experience and hold IFE/IFSM certification. The role is on a sub‑contract basis.

Successful candidates must have a comprehensive understanding of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and relevant British Standards, be confident communicators, and capable of building long‑term professional relationships with internal staff. They must deliver reports on time, possess strong computer skills, and have experience assessing commercial, industrial and domestic buildings.

The role requires continual adherence to current fire legislation, collaboration with the admin team, and a commitment to best‑practice assessment methods and service quality.

Essential requirements include proven experience completing fire risk assessments, membership level accreditation with IFE, IFSM or a competent risk assessor register, high literacy, strong verbal communication, planning and organisational abilities, and a full UK driving licence.

Desirable qualifications are additional professional fire safety credentials from recognised bodies such as the Fire Protection Association, Fire Industry Association, NEBOSH Fire, or IND1.

• Hold IFE/IFSM certification and be accredited at Member level with the Institute of Fire Engineers or Institute of Fire Safety Managers.
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills and a full UK driving licence.
• Optional: Hold additional qualifications such as FPA, FIA, NEBOSH Fire, or IND1.
