Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Description

• Leading project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Providing mentoring and training for junior staff.
• Assist in the development of new standards and specifications for the work elements designed by your discipline group and interact with other Stantec teams to complete the design package for various sized projects across North America.
• Provide support in permitting process of projects, if needed.
• Conduct and/or review analyses, develop engineering calculation packages, and perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned and under the direction of a Project Technical Lead or Project Manager.
• Engaging in Professional organizations that align with expertise, authoring technical papers anddelivering technical presentations for conference and symposia events.
• Promoting collaboration and teamwork across business lines and geographies.
• Growing internal and external networks to enhance Stantec’s reputation and identifying additional talent to join our team.
• Assists Project Technical Leads and Project Managers in establishing project objectives, procedures, and performance standards, and leading multidisciplinary teams on proposals, planning studies, feasibility through final designs, and construction services for geotechnical engineering projects.
• Maintaining and enhancing our reputation with clients, approval agencies and industry professionals as an outstanding service provider.
• Assists in providing support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information, and contract document clarifications.
• Serving as EngineerofRecord on projects.
• Manage and lead other team members which could be local or regional, while working on other projects, complete tasks, and delegate specific project tasks to other team members as appropriate.
• Developing client relationships to facilitate project activities.

Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interpret sketches, engineering drawings, and other similar materials.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil or Geotechnical Engineering. Master preferred.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to understand project and team roles and scheduling, budgeting, and efficient use of time and resources.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in at least one jurisdiction with the ability to obtain reciprocity in other states.
• Ability to lead technical teams and collaborate in a project team setting and interact with clients daily.
• Understanding client expectations, budgeting, proposal writing, and producing highquality deliverables
• Strong knowledge of civil and geotechnical systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
• Basic experience in Microsoft Office, and familiarity with (but not required) AutoCAD Civil3D, Geostudio Software Suite, Plaxis, ENSOFT LPILE, FB Deep/MultiPier, DigiPro II, and gINT.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience
• An understanding of state and federal regulations and the ability to adapt to clientspecific requirements.
• Strong understanding and technical ability in producing and leading teams through all phases of a design project (proposal, calculations, construction drawings, and final reports)
• Excellent teambuilding skills and a willingness to work on multiple teams/disciplines with varying backgrounds.
• Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage two or three direct team members.
• Efficient project management/technical leadership of assigned tasks on multiple concurrent projects.
• Preferred USACE, SFWMD, DOT, and/or CCR experience
