- Cost & Value Analysis: Collaborate with the owner and project team to ensure systems are cost-effective and explore value engineering options when needed.
- Understand Project Requirements: Work with senior engineers to understand client needs, facility standards, and building codes (e.g., IBC, ASHRAE, NFPA).
- Energy & Load Calculations: Understand insulation requirements, assist with energy code compliance, and begin performing heating/cooling load calculations.
- Construction Documents: Create accurate and complete construction documents, including floor plans, details, schedules, and control drawings.
- Design air distribution systems
- Develop control drawings and diagrams
- Design Support: Help define and document the design approach (basis of design) for mechanical and plumbing systems.
- Select and schedule mechanical equipment
- Assist with chilled/condenser water systems and steam/condensate systems
