Provides engineering, project management & digital solutions for complex infrastructure in regulated sectors.
The role involves defining control and EC&I system requirements, developing front‑end architectures, producing control philosophies and functional requirements, structuring end‑to‑end systems across PLCs, HMIs, networks and instrumentation, applying vendor‑agnostic PLC and DCS design principles, supporting verification, validation, FAT and SAT activities, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineers, and applying nuclear‑grade configuration control and lifecycle governance.
The company is looking for EC&I Engineers at all levels—from 3 years’ experience up to principal—based across UK offices with hybrid working options. Engineers will shape EC&I and control system concepts from early requirements through detailed design and delivery, translating stakeholder needs into robust, compliant control architectures across full‑life‑cycle projects.
Candidates should have a systems‑engineering mindset and experience in highly regulated industries such as nuclear, pharma, aerospace or oil & gas. Desired skills include front‑end engineering exposure, broad vendor‑agnostic PLC expertise, understanding of DCS/HMI/network layers, functional safety knowledge, lifecycle project experience, and awareness of OT cybersecurity; nuclear experience is not essential, and meeting six to seven of the listed skills is sufficient.
Joining Assystem means becoming part of one of the three largest nuclear engineering firms in the world, working in an environment that values technical thinking, structured problem solving and long‑term career development. Teams influence projects from the earliest design stages and benefit from continuous learning, internal mobility and opportunities across fusion, modular nuclear and major UK infrastructure programmes.
The position is ideal for engineers who enjoy structuring and defining complex control systems rather than merely executing specifications. Benefits include hybrid and flexible working, a market‑leading pension scheme, 25 days paid annual leave plus holidays with a buy/sell option, professional fees reimbursement, an employee referral scheme, competitive sick pay, income protection and 3× salary death‑in‑service cover, free digital gym access, and a 24/7 employee support line for mental health, financial and legal assistance.
