Business Development Manager, Energy Storage

Description

The Business Development Manager, Energy Storage will lead customer development for utility‑scale battery energy storage projects. This role involves direct customer engagement, planning and participating in RFPs, shaping commercial proposals, and ensuring a robust sales funnel with a diverse customer base.

• Develop and manage a pipeline of BESS opportunities across hyper‑scalers, utilities, IPPs, and developers.
• Lead customer engagements from initial contact through contract execution.
• Leverage deep network in the BESS ecosystem to scale Redwood Energy.
• Translate customer technical requirements into robust commercial offerings with colleagues.
• Support RFP responses, pricing development, and incentive eligibility strategy.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Commercial, and Finance teams to define and deliver projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in BESS, utility‑scale solar, or grid‑connected energy systems in a sales capacity.
• Proven success scoping, pricing, and closing complex projects with customers.
• Familiarity with Investment Tax Credit (ITC) structuring and related incentive programs.
• Proficiency in commercial pricing models and proposal documentation.
• Comfortable in a dynamic startup environment; independent, motivated self‑starter.

California salary range is $158,000 – $186,000 USD, with compensation commensurate with experience.
