The Division Manager will lead and mentor a division of project managers, engineers, and field staff involved in heavy civil and transportation construction, ensuring projects meet UDOT specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards. They will develop and manage division budgets, schedules, and staffing plans while integrating software and digital tools to streamline workflows and analyze project data. The role includes implementing best practices for project management, coordinating with clients, contractors, and government agencies, and building relationships with key stakeholders. Performance metrics will be tracked and process improvements applied to increase efficiency and profitability, and the manager will support recruitment and team expansion across Utah.
Civil Science is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Construction Division Manager to lead and oversee transportation and infrastructure construction projects throughout Utah. The ideal candidate will hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license and bring strong experience working with UDOT standards, specifications, and project delivery methods. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in managing teams, budgets, schedules, and quality across complex civil and transportation projects. Additionally, the candidate will assist in expanding the construction management team throughout the state.
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (Master’s preferred), be a licensed Professional Engineer in Utah (or obtain reciprocity within six months), and possess at least ten years of heavy civil/transportation construction experience, including five years in a leadership role. They must demonstrate proven experience with UDOT projects, strong knowledge of project management, scheduling, and cost controls, and exhibit excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills. The position requires the ability to travel throughout Utah and meet the physical demands of active construction sites.
The role involves prolonged periods of desk work and computer use, as well as the physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, navigate uneven terrain, and work in varying weather conditions and moderate to high noise levels on active construction sites.
Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, pass a criminal background check and driving record review, and may be eligible for visa sponsorship on a case‑by‑case basis.
