The Business Unit Fleet Maintenance Manager oversees up to five maintenance shops and multiple teams of technicians, supervisors, and other managers responsible for preventive maintenance and repair of a fleet of more than 91 diesel and alternate‑fuel trucks, as well as machinery supporting three post‑collection facilities and three container shops. This role provides direction both within their own shop and indirectly through other supervisors, ensuring all work complies with Republic Services' safety standards and federal and state regulations.
Key responsibilities include directing on‑site technicians and supervisors, coordinating and scheduling repairs to maximize productivity while managing overtime, and monitoring shop performance to implement process improvements. The manager conducts daily huddles, fleet walk‑arounds, coaching, hires and terminates staff with HR, oversees employee training and evaluations, and maintains a preventive maintenance program across all sites. Additional duties involve controlling maintenance costs, inspecting external repairs, managing quality‑control inspections, and maintaining detailed records in Dossier Maintenance Software.
The role requires strong computer and Microsoft Office skills, advanced root‑cause problem solving, effective communication, and a customer‑service orientation. Candidates must demonstrate high analytical ability, organizational skills, financial management acumen, and the capacity to collaborate and engage employees. Certifications such as ASE T2‑T4, CAFM specialties, and at least five years of experience as a Maintenance Manager or Supervisor for a large fleet are required.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and three years of leadership experience. The position offers a salary range of $109,800 to $151,050, with an annual incentive bonus target of 25% of base pay. Travel is required as part of the role.
