The Team Lead assists the Production Supervisor in day‑to‑day plant operations, provides leadership and guidance to operators, helps meet plant goals for safety, quality and productivity, and serves as backup by operating key equipment and training staff on new assignments.
- Comply with Westlake Royal Safety Policies and ensure shift personnel also comply.
- Collaborate with supervisors and teams to prioritize work assignments and meet production schedules.
- Report quality, process, equipment or material concerns to the Production Supervisor.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives alongside the Production Supervisor.
- Actively participate in the production team and manufacture products.
- Follow documented policies and procedures defined by the company's Quality System.
- Adhere to detailed manufacturing instructions, processes and procedures.
- Learn new technologies and equipment as they are introduced.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.
- Treat materials and monitor equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Identify recyclable materials for processing.
- Adjust, program, calibrate, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Work with Production Supervision to identify cross‑training and development opportunities for plant personnel.
- Observe and monitor production line employee performance and assist in developing evaluations.
- Interpret and implement manufacturing floor procedures.
- Apply strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Manage conflicting priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals.
- Collaborate with others to solve problems and achieve goals.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, plus relevant training or certification, and 1‑2 years of experience in a related field.
The role involves exposure to noise, temperature extremes, prolonged standing, repetitive motions, and the ability to lift or move items up to 50 lb while working around dust, chemicals and other substances, and wearing required personal protective equipment.
- Use basic problem‑solving skills to maintain stable equipment operation.
- Demonstrate regular attendance, timeliness and scheduling flexibility.
- Pursue ongoing education in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, JIT, TQM, Kaizen and 5S.
- Utilize strong organizational and strategic thinking abilities.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and adaptability to changing conditions.
- Work independently as a self‑directed worker.
- Communicate tactfully, diplomatically and empathetically.
