Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) Instructor

Description

Internal relationships include collaboration with the HBI Executive Team, Board of Trustees, and staff at all levels, while external relationships involve community partners, vendors, contractors, and system end users. These connections support program delivery and community engagement.

• Instruct program participants in trade skills using approved curriculum
• Develop curriculum and supporting training materials as needed
• Coordinate hands‑on training activities, including on‑site and community projects
• Demonstrate proper use of tools and equipment, emphasizing safety
• Assist with student recruitment, placement, and employability training per program needs
• Monitor, mentor, and coach students
• Foster positive relationships with funders, program partners, and personnel
• Participate in outreach and employer relationship development
• Perform administrative and reporting functions as required
• Ensure proper use, storage, and security of tools and equipment
• Adhere to all applicable safety protocols (OSHA 10)

Requirements

As a skilled trades Instructor, you will demonstrate proper technique, safety, and detail through hands‑on training and classroom instruction, essential for developing polished trades professionals. Strong coaching skills, a commitment to inspiring future tradespeople, and a focus on workplace safety are crucial for success in this role.

Required qualifications include meeting Career Technical Training standards, which entail a high school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of work experience, education, and skills equivalent to journey‑level experience in HVAC. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill the instructional and safety responsibilities of the role.

Working conditions are typical of an office environment with routine physical activities such as walking, carrying, standing, listening, and sitting, along with nominal travel as needed. Safety protocols and proper tool handling are integral to daily operations.
