- Apply civil engineering principles to project assignments.
- Evaluate and adapt standard design techniques and criteria.
- Develop initial engineering design concepts for major project phases.
- Resolve complex issues such as conflicting design requirements and material suitability.
- Manage design and administration processes, including scheduling, proposals, plans, specifications, budgeting, invoicing, and client communication.
- Supervise and train less‑experienced engineers and technical staff.
- Serve as liaison among clients, agencies, subcontractors, and design teams.
- Participate in contract proposals, administration, and construction observations.
- Lead design tasks and take initiative on project deliverables.
- Prepare calculations, reports, and complete sets of plans and specifications using AutoCAD, Civil3D, stormwater design software, and standard office tools.
- Delegate tasks, prioritize work, and monitor progress to ensure accuracy and completeness.

The Civil Assistant Project Manager role is based in Birmingham, Auburn, or Huntsville, Alabama. It is a regular full-time position that may require up to 25 % travel and the ability to obtain a Secret or higher U.S. government clearance.
