Ensure that all hard surfaces & paths & ornamental grounds around the premises are clean, tidy & free of litter. Litter to be cleaned on a daily basis

  • The Company will provide a uniform which must be worn at all times whilst on duty
  • Clean non-electrical fittings on all portable hearing and ventilation equipment
  • Prepare the college for after-Institute activities, clean and prepare the college for its normal use
  • Receipt, distribution & transport of all stores, materials & other goods as required
  • Assist the FM on the requisition requirements
  • Operate fire alarm, intruder alarm & building security systems & report any faults to the Facilities Manager or Helpdesk
  • Provide the Facilities Manager with timely reports on any defects in the premises externally & internally
  • Provide records of consumable stocks
  • Assist with maintenance duties, e.g., painting, shelving, signs, replacing locks & small alterations, etc.
  • Ensure that bins within the building complex are washed and cleaned
  • Complete all paperwork/documentation associated with the post including timesheets, written reports and monitoring reports when required
  • Transport all refuse bins to and from their collection point
  • Carry out handyperson duties within the competence of the post-holder
  • Safe custody of keys of the premises, the allocation of keys to staff (where approved by the Facilities Manager)
  • Open & close the premises & grounds, except in circumstances where the Facilities Manager or other Authorised Person authorises another person to do so
  • Attend after-hour alarm callouts, & where appropriate ensure that the premises are secure and cleaned at the earliest opportunity when clearance has been given and any unauthorised entry or damage is reported to the FM or other Authorised Person
  • Ensure that service requests issued by FM or Client are addressed and completed
  • Clean external signs, lights covers, and notices up to 3.35m
  • Ensure that all hard surfaces & paths & ornamental grounds around the premises are clean, tidy & free of litter. Litter to be cleaned on a daily basis
  • The person appointed will be required to undertake evening duties & work at other sites to meet the needs of the Company
  • Monitor suitability and performance of material and light equipment and advise the FM where these are inappropriate for the task
  • Replace lamps, tubs & plugs to a level of 3.35m using appropriate equipment, except where access from above can be gained
  • Be responsible for securing premises including ensuring all windows are closed, doors & gates, both internal & external are locked at the end of each day
  • Apply grit/rock salt in times of snow & frost to ensure pathways & entrance are free from snow & ice
  • Ensure that all external surfaces drains & gullies & kitchen grease-traps within the building complex are free flowing & clean by removing obstructions
  • During normal working hours report any suspicious activity or breach of security immediately to the Facilities Manager or Helpdesk
  • Prepare the premises for normal day & evening activities including the inspection of furniture to ensure student safety
  • Control and monitor access and departures of staff/deliveries/visitors to College car parks.
  • Despatch goods and other materials from the building
  • Prepare rooms as per room bookings, special events and examinations etc. & any other purpose as required
  • Assist the FM in the implementation of changes in work procedures to improve economy, standards or ease of operation
  • Direct and clean all internal fixed glass surfaces up to 3.35 metres using the appropriate equipment provided to ensure safe working conditions
  • Assist the FM to plan periodic work in consultation with service users
  • Prepare reports on any defects in the premises externally and internally
  • Replenish toilet rolls, soaps, paper towels and other requisites required throughout the working day
  • Monitor & document usage of fuel, water & electricity
  • Ensure that cleaning standards within the building meet Graham FM standards. Where appropriate assist the FM with complaints in respect of the cleaning provision
  • Ensure that all defects in equipment used by the Caretaking staff are reported to the Facilities Manager
  • The post holder will be required to assist in the evacuation of the building in the event of a fire drill or an actual emergency by acting in the capacity of Fire Warden or Fire Marshall
  • Carry out regular inspections as defined by FM to firefighting equipment & report any defects to the Facilities Manager or other authorised person
  • Caretakers will be required to attend appropriate training to facilitate the effective undertaking of duties commensurate with their grade
