Assembler

Description

The assembler’s primary role is to facilitate the assembly and fabrication of final products, and may also perform duties assigned by a Team Lead, Supervisor or Senior Production Manager across multiple departments as needed.

The position involves fabricating and assembling component parts according to schematics, using hand and power tools, handling inventory tasks, loading and unloading products, maintaining equipment, and supporting tradespeople and supervisors to keep projects on schedule and safe. Employees are expected to keep the work area organized, report unsafe conditions, and may operate forklifts or overhead cranes if certified.

• Request and complete training on new hand‑held equipment as needed.
• Assist tradespeople and supervisors with project‑specific tasks while adhering to the 5‑S program.
• Liaise with Team Leads to identify and confirm additional duties on new projects.
• Keep the department organized and clean at the end of each workday.
• Perform simple fractional calculations and tape‑measure measurements.
• Operate forklifts or overhead cranes only when trained and authorized.
• Identify and report defects during assembly.
• Follow safe lifting and handling procedures for items over 40 lb.
• Maintain small hand‑held tools in good condition and report malfunctions promptly.
• Observe and enforce workplace safety standards in accordance with Alberta OHS regulations.

Requirements

Required knowledge, skills and abilities include safe equipment operation, effective communication, time management, defect detection, understanding of materials, methods and tools, and the ability to work independently while following a schedule. Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting over 40 lb, and reading tape measures and basic fractional math; blueprint reading is an asset.

The work environment is a commercial/industrial setting with natural hazards, requiring manual dexterity, protective equipment, and occasional overtime. All duties must comply with Silent‑Aire’s safety program and Alberta OHS regulations.
