Junior Mechanical Design Engineer

Description

• Prepare detailed documentation for internal and client approval.
• Assist in material selection and specification for mechanical components.
• Provide technical input during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting phases.
• Project Contribution: Timely delivery of design packages aligned with project milestones.
• Develop and interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for process systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical systems with electrical and control systems.
• Participate in project scheduling, resource planning, and cost estimation.
• Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and compliance checks.
• Support system layout planning, including pipework routing, equipment positioning, and space optimization.
• Support for Chartered Engineer status and advanced certifications.
• Produce and refine mechanical designs using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent).

Requirements

• 1–2 years’ experience in mechanical design (internship or industry).
• Proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks essential).
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving capability.
• Design Quality: Accuracy and completeness of CAD models, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fluid dynamics, and process design.
• Competent in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Innovation & Problem-Solving: Ability to propose practical solutions during design and commissioning.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Progression to Mechanical Design Engineer or Project Engineer roles within 2–3 years.
• Basic knowledge of project management methodologies.
• Collaboration: Effective communication and coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Familiarity with P&ID development and process flow principles.
• Full driving license preferred.
