Description

The Senior Project Interior Designer is a senior strategic leader responsible for shaping, leading, and evolving the interior design experience across multiple Blue Heron homes. This role balances high‑level creative direction and business accountability, while also directly leading complex, high‑visibility luxury residential projects.

In addition to delivering exceptional interiors, the Senior Project Interior Designer serves as a mentor, decision‑maker, and trusted partner to leadership, helping manage risk and ensuring interior design excellence is delivered consistently, profitably, and at scale.

• Provide strategic oversight for interiors across multiple projects and designers.
• Align interior strategy with broader business and project objectives in partnership with leadership.
• Conceptualize and present sophisticated interior solutions that meet client aspirations, architectural intent, and brand standards.
• Lead client meetings by setting agenda, presenting confidently, and guiding high‑level decision making.
• Act as a trusted interior design advisor to sophisticated luxury clients.
• Offer creative direction and design review for projects led by Project Interior Designers.
• Balance client advocacy with operational, schedule, and financial realities.
• Manage client expectations throughout the project lifecycle with proactive communication and strategic solutions.
• Curate, specify, and coordinate luxury materials, finishes, FF&E, textiles, and bespoke detailing.
• Ensure seamless integration of architectural elements with interior spaces.
• Design within budget, meet project milestones, and improve design workflow efficiency.
• Closely manage and oversee client billable hours related to interior scope.
• Collaborate with Project Design Managers, Project Managers, and leadership to align interiors with overall project strategy.
• Identify and proactively manage project risks, scope, schedule, and budget challenges.
• Work cross‑departmentally with estimating, procurement, construction, architecture, sales, and marketing to execute design plans and maintain cost visibility.
• Serve as the primary interiors voice in design reviews, constructability reviews, and onsite walkthroughs.
• Advocate for the client experience while aligning with operational realities and company goals.
• Mentor the interiors team, modeling best‑in‑class design thinking, presentation skills, technical design, and client engagement.
• Contribute to evolving the Blue Heron Interior Design Experience, standards, tools, and training.
• Represent interior design in internal initiatives, brand storytelling, and thought leadership efforts.

Requirements

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in interior design and 10–15 years of luxury residential or hospitality experience, with a proven record of leading multiple high‑end projects and mentoring designers. Preferred NCIDQ certification, expertise in materials, FF&E, construction methods, and strong business acumen are essential.

• Exceptional ability to manage complex client and stakeholder relationships as a trusted advisor.
• Superior organizational and project management skills, handling multiple complex projects concurrently.
• Proven ability to lead clients through complex decisions with confidence, empathy, and clarity.
• Strong business acumen with confidence in budget, value engineering, and financial discussions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SketchUp, and Bluebeam.
