The Assistant Unit Manager supports the Unit Manager by supervising staff, overseeing unit programs, and serving as Acting Unit Manager when the Unit Manager is absent. They act as a liaison across the facility by attending administrative meetings that integrate the unit with overall operations.
The role ensures the unit remains fully staffed, monitors manpower usage, and tracks unit progress while addressing any deficiencies. It also involves preparing reports on staff performance and inmate relations and participating in inmate classification and housing assignments.
Qualified candidates must have at least a high school diploma or GED, three years of criminal‑justice experience (including one year in supervision or as a CoreCivic case manager), and knowledge of correctional management, laws, and regulations. A valid driver’s license and a minimum age of 18 are also required.
